Motorcycle rally raises funds for the CJAY 92 Kids Fund

CJAY 92 Kids Fund motorcycle ride Hundreds participate in a motorcycle rally to raise money for the kids fund which helps less fortunate families through illness or disability.

Dozens of motorcycles rode from Okotoks to Longview to Diamond Valley and back to Okotoks to raise money for a good cause Saturday.

Sixty people pre-registered to be part of this event, but organizers were hoping 100 riders would be part of the motorcycle rally.

This event benefits the CJAY 92 Kid's Fund which was created in 2000.

Its mandate is to assist less fortunate families and their children in and around the Calgary area who are often facing bleak circumstances due to illness, disability or hardship.

“All the money that we raise, and we don't have any overhead so it's dollar for dollar, whatever we raised today goes right back into the community,” says CJAY 92 announcer Reaper.

“Let's say somebody has had their wheelchair stolen, we've replaced those or single mom has moved to Calgary with their three kids and their van gets stolen overnight with all their stuff. We've replaced them.

"So all the money that we raise in the community goes straight back into the community and it's one of the proudest things that I am about CJ and all the staff so we love it.”

Everyone left from Okotoks around 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning for a ride through the Foothills.

“Every year we put it on we just asked people to come on out for a ride through the foothills; go into Longview to the Twin Cities Saloon, go to Diamond Valley to Motorrad Performance,” says Reaper.

“We make a couple of stops and then we just say go ride somewhere in the Foothills.”

The wrap-up party was at Big Sky BBQ in Okotoks where participants enjoyed pig roast tacos, performances by the School of Rock, and prizes.
