‘Keep playing for each other’: Flames look to make it three in a row with Blackhawks battle

The Chicago Blackhawks look like they’re really turning things around.

The ’Hawks have struggled for years, but now, some of that young talent is taking the next step.

The Flames headed to the Saddledome looking to make it three in a row.

The Flames are on their longest winning streak of the season.

Yes, it’s only two games, but as they say, you’ve got to start somewhere.

“We kind of just said, once November starts, let’s just flip the page and almost reset everything,” defenceman Rasmus Andersson said.

“I think we’ve done a good job of that. The last two games were good. … Just keep building and keep playing for each other.”

The Flames know if they want to get back into the race, they have to start stringing some wins together.

“Keep building on our game. I think coming out with a good start … and just keeping that energy,” said forward Joel Farabee.

“When you get a couple of wins, you start to feel good, guys have a little confidence and you just do what you can to keep that going.”

The ’Hawks are off to a 6-5-3 start to the season and forward Connor Bedard is really starting to light it up.

In 14 games, Bedard has seven goals and 11 assists.

He went into Friday expecting a tight battle.

“I’ve seen video and stuff and see they’re a hard-nosed team that pressures a lot, so we’ve got to be ready for that and ready for a tight checking game,” Bedard said.

The Flames are in last place overall in the NHL with just 10 points.

But ’Hawks head coach Jeff Blashill says there’s no way his team can take them lightly.

“I think everybody is so close in this league,” Blashill said.

“Every night is so hard, and teams can kind of go on runs both ways, both good and bad.

“I know they’re starting a good run here and we’d like to build off our last game in Vancouver, so it should be a good game.”

Kevin Bahl didn’t skate Friday morning and was to be a gametime decision.
