The Lethbridge Hurricanes took care of business at the Saddledome Saturday night, defeating the Calgary 2-1.

The victory gave the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven WHL playoff series.

On the same night that Bachman Turner Overdrive and April Wine were rocking out at the Grey Eagle Casino, the Hurricanes shut down the Hitmen, who have had no luck whatsoever in the first two games.

After a scoreless first period, Brayden Edwards capitalized on a power play to give Lethbridge a 1-0 lead late in the middle frame.

In the third, the Hitmen bounced back, when Ben Kindel scored with a little over three minutes remaining to tie the score 1-1.

It was the Hitmen’s first goal of the series after they were blanked 4-0 in Game 1.

With overtime looming, Lethbridge got a late goal from Kooper Gizowski scoring with 2:15 remaining.

Calgary pulled goalie Anders Miller for an extra attacker but couldn’t find the equalizer.

Calgary outshot Lethbridge 34-27.

With their backs to the wall, the Hitmen travel to Lethbridge for Games 3 and 4 Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Before the skaters hit the ice at VisitLethbridge.com Arena, BTO and April Wine are performing a show of their own Sunday night.
