CTV Calgary receives 10 nominations for RTDNA Awards

CTV News Calgary has earned an exceptional number of nominations in one of Canada’s most prestigious journalism award competitions.

The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA Canada) has named 10 CTV News Calgary entries as finalists in the Prairie Region for its Awards of Excellence.

The annual awards honour the best journalists, programs, platforms, stations and newsgathering organizations in audio, digital and video.

CTV News Calgary received nominations for stories about a deadly rockslide in Banff National Park, cybercriminals targeting youth, a motorcycle business venture, the blacksmith world championships, a former Calgary Stampeder fighting ALS and a youth boxing program for troubled teens.

Nominations were also received for CTV News Calgary’s live productions of the 2025 municipal election, the Calgary Stampede Parade and the Remembrance Day service at the Hangar Flight Museum.

CTV News Calgary is also a finalist for best TV newscast.

“This is a very impressive number of nominations across categories and platforms,” said Jeff Little, CTV Calgary director of news and public affairs.

“It’s a true reflection of the depth of talent, storytelling and teamwork.”

Regional award winners will be announced in September 2026.

CTV News Calgary was the first to break the story online of a major rockslide with mass casualties at Bow Glacier Falls in Banff National Park. Our coverage included live reports from Lake Louise and Foothills Hospital, dramatic video of the deadly rockslide and analysis from a geologist.

Cybercriminals Target Youth

Our investigation into online exploitation uncovered how an international violent extremist group targeted vulnerable kids, including a 14-year-old girl. We followed up with a story about how predators access children, including on the world’s largest gaming platform.
