One person was killed and another was badly injured in a crash north of Calgary on Sunday.

The two-vehicle collision happened on Highway 22 near Township Road 312, about 30 kilometres west of Didsbury, at 5:30 p.m.

RCMP say the crash involved a Dodge Journey and a Ford F150, both of which came to rest in the northbound lane.

The Dodge was fully engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived.

RCMP say the driver of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the F150 was taken to hospital in Calgary in critical condition via STARS air ambulance.

RCMP are continuing to investigate what caused the two vehicles to collide.

Didsbury is located roughly 60 kilometres north of Calgary.
