Bear warning issued for YMCA Camp Chief Hector

A bear warning was issued earlier this week for trails in K-Country.

A bear warning has been issued for YMCA Camp Chief Hector.

Alberta Parks posted the warning Thursday on its website, saying “black bears have been seen in and around the camp, feeding on natural vegetation.”

To avoid encounters with bears, Alberta Parks advises people to make plenty of noise, travel in groups, be aware of your surroundings, keep your pet on a leash, carry bear spray in an easily accessible place and secure things like food, garbage and pet food in hard-sided vehicles or bear-proof lockers.
