A spring snowfall could be on its way, as Barrie and many nearby areas are under a winter weather travel advisory for early this week.
According to Environment Canada, Barrie and many towns in Simcoe County could see nearly 10 centimetres of snow between Sunday night and Tuesday or Wednesday.
The weather agency states that a low-pressure system could bring a brief period of heavy snowfall, with the snow possibly becoming mixed with rain by Monday morning.
The advisory also applies to areas along the southwestern shores of Georgian Bay, including those in the counties of Grey, Bruce and Dufferin. Environment Canada adds that local snowfall amounts could exceed 10 centimetres depending on where the lake effect snow bands set up.
Motorists are advised to adjust their driving and travel plans accordingly.
