Police in Collingwood charged two people in connection to a truck theft over the weekend.
On Sunday around 2 p.m., Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of a motor vehicle theft in a Collingwood parking lot.
Officials say a black Dodge Ram 1500 was left unlocked with the keys inside. Additional items were reportedly stolen from the dodge including a pre-paid credit card, a debit card, and the victim’s driver’s license.
OPP gathered evidence and reviewed video footage from both the alleged theft location and a local gas station, where a transaction was made using the victim’s debit card, according to police.
During the investigation, police were able to identify the suspects, a 44-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, both residents of Collingwood.
The duo was held for a bail hearing on Monday. Police say the stolen vehicle has since been recovered and returned it to its owner.
In addition, the man involved in the alleged Dodge Ram theft has been charged in connection to another theft investigation that stemmed from incidents at the Living Water Resort in Collingwood.
