Three suspected overdoses reported within three day span, says health unit

Three suspected overdoses have been reported in Owen Sound over a three-day period, according to Grey Bruce Public Health (GBPH).

The incidents took place over the Victoria Day long weekend.

Health officials say one case involved a suspected substance identified as fentanyl, while the substances in the other two cases remain unknown.

“In all cases, individuals were responsive to naloxone,” notes GBPH in a drug alert issued Wednesday. “Please continue to encourage all people who use drugs to have naloxone on hand and to always have a sober friend with them who can administer naloxone and call 911 in case of an overdose.”

Officials say fentanyl test kits are available from GBPH during regular office hours.
