Temperatures to drop to freezing mark in some parts of region

Environment Canada is calling for a mixed bag of weather on Friday and into the weekend.

While the calendar shows it’s spring, Mother Nature is telling a different story.

If you have any plants outside, you may want to cover them up or bring them inside.

Temperatures could dip down to the freezing mark Friday night in some parts of the region.

According to Environment Canada, while Huntsville is heading up to a high of 11, you’ll want layers if you’re headed out in the evening as the temperature will drop to 0 C.

Heading into Mother’s Day weekend, rain is in the forecast for Saturday but things will warm up to a high of 14 C.

In Barrie, it won’t be too much warmer with a low of 3 C for Friday night. The sun will try to peak through the clouds Saturday before rain takes over in the early afternoon and a high of 12 C.

While it may not seem intuitive to put sunscreen on during these cool spring days, Environment Canada says the UV index will be at a 6 or high on Saturday.
