Police lay charges in string of Huntsville break‑ins, remaining suspects at large

A 24-year-old Huntsville man is up for charges after a series of break-ins in Huntsville and Lake of Bays.

Police say the man was arrested this past Friday after an investigation into four separate incidents. He was charged with two counts of break and enter, two counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of mischief under $5,000.

Police confirm the charges are tied to alleged break-ins at a Main Street store in Huntsville on March 27 and another business on Highway 60 in Lake of Bays on April 4.

According to investigators, the March 27 incident took place around 2:50 a.m. when a suspect allegedly smashed a window at a restaurant near John Street and left with cash.

On April 4, another business on Highway 60 near Tally Ho Beach Road was broken into shortly after midnight and various items were reported stolen.

Police say the man was held for a bail hearing and will appear before the court later.

Still under investigation

Officers say two more break and enter incidents remain under investigation.

On April 3, a storage unit on Arrowhead Park Road in Huntsville was reportedly broken into during the morning. Two people and a white Chevrolet pickup truck with a crew cab were seen in the area.

That same night, around 1:48 a.m. on April 4, officers responded to another alleged break-in at a King William Street business in Huntsville. Police say the suspect smashed the front door, took cash and drove off in a silver sedan.
