On Saturday morning, a makeshift shelter in a homeless encampment in Barrie caught fire.

Barrie Deputy Fire Chief, Eric MacFadden, told CTV News that three trucks responded to the encampment call on Victoria Street around 10:30 a.m.

Heavy smoke and flames were found in a 20-by-20 foot makeshift shelter on the encampment property.

No injuries were reported in the midst of this incident. The blaze was put out in ample time, according to MacFadden.

A cause has not been determined, he said. Further investigations will not be taking place as the encampment blaze in not considered to be suspicious in nature.
