Essa woman charged in year-long OPP fraud investigation

A 38-year-old woman from Essa Township is facing charges in connection with a year-long Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) fraud investigation.

Provincial police with the Nottawasaga OPP detachment launched the investigation last year after allegations an employee at the Community Living Association South Simcoe in Alliston had been using a company credit card for personal purchases.

The police probe revealed that between the months of November 2023 and February 2024, $122,162.15 had been racked up on the company’s credit card.

The accused is facing charges of fraud over $5,000 and permit-use of credit card data. She has since been released from police custody with a court date scheduled for next month in Bradford.

The investigation remains ongoing.
