The City of Barrie is announcing the transition of the Mayor’s Taskforce, previously a two-year pilot project, into a permanent and structured Executive Committee.

This City says this move reflects their dedication to addressing the community’s evolving needs, promoting responsible governance, and maintaining a forward-thinking strategic vision.

Mayor Alex Nuttall expressed gratitude for the collaboration. “I want to extend my sincere thanks to all members of Council for their hard work, invaluable feedback, and commitment over the last two years,” said Mayor Nuttall. “Together, we’ve built a strong foundation to guide the growth and future of our City.”

Special recognition was given to Councillor Sergio Morales for his leadership in bringing the Mayor’s Taskforce to this milestone. “I want to personally thank Councillor Morales for his exceptional work in steering this initiative to this point, where it will mature from a temporary pilot into a key component of the City’s governance structure,” added Mayor Nuttall.

Councillor Morales will take on the Vice-Chair role in the newly established Executive Committee.

As Barrie continues to grow, the Executive Committee hopes to play a pivotal role in ensuring City operations align with Council’s strategic priorities, while keeping projects on track and within budget.

This transition marks a significant step for Barrie, reinforcing the City’s commitment to strategic, transparent, and responsible governance that will shape its future development.
