Borrow a soccer kit for free at the library

Has the FIFA World Cup got you hyped up on soccer?

Well the Barrie Public Library has you covered. The library has added a new collection item to its Library of Things designed for soccer enthusiasts.

The new soccer kits were created to make the sport of soccer more accessible to more people whether it’s playing the game for fun in the park, on a field, at the beach or in the backyard.

The soccer kits include two pop-up goals, pylons, pylons, two soccer balls—one size 3 and the other size 4, a ball pump and carrying bag.

“The FIFA World Cup brings people together through a shared love of sport, creating opportunities for connection, celebration, and community,” said Vivien Keiling, Manager of Collections. “Our new Soccer Kits make it easy for Barrie residents to get in the game, whether they’re lifelong soccer fans or kicking a ball for the very first time.”

Patrons can borrow the kits for free with their library card for one week. Holds can be placed on the kits as well. As of Friday, all six kits are checked out, with one hold.

The new addition to the Library of Things is part of the library’s broader plan to expand access to recreation learning and community experiences.

Other items in the Library of Things include things like other sports kits, museum passes, musical instruments and metal detector kits.
