Man charged with impaired driving after breath samples almost 3 times the legal limit: Charlottetown police

A 21-year-old P.E.I., man is facing an impaired driving charge after police say his breath sample was almost three times the legal limit Wednesday night.

Charlottetown Police Services says an officer tried to pull over a vehicle for speeding on the Arterial Highway around 11 p.m.

The driver allegedly did not stop and the officer stopped pursuing him for “public safety reasons.”

Police say they were able to find the suspect with the use of their E-Watch camera system and a second officer pulled him over on Walker Drive.

The driver allegedly displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

Police say the Stratford man was charged with impaired driving after providing breath samples almost three times the legal limit.

He was released from custody and will appear in provincial court at a later date.

Police say their investigation is ongoing and there may be additional charges in the future.
