2 people suffer smoke inhalation after Summerside house fire

Two people suffered from smoke inhalation after a house fire in Summerside, P.E.I., early Sunday morning.

Officers with Summerside Police Service were on patrol in the St. Eleanors neighbourhood just after 3 a.m. when they noticed a large amount of smoke in the air.

They then found a house on fire in the East Drive area.

Police say they helped two residents leave the home. They both suffered from smoke inhalation.

One of the residents was later taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The Summerside Fire Department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire.

Police say the cause is not believed to be suspicious.
