Victim of Friday night shooting in Dartmouth identified: Halifax police

Halifax Regional Police has identified the victim of shooting in Dartmouth Friday night as 39-year-old Thomas Junior Downey of North Preston.

Police say they responded to a report of the shooting on Lahey Road in Dartmouth around 10:30 p.m. At the scene, officers located a man who had been shot. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy where they confirmed Downey’s death was a homicide.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
