The RCMP in Nova Scotia is warning the public about a new scam involving a text message that appears to be from police.
The Mounties say they received information Friday about unsolicited text messages claiming to be an “RCMP Delivery Notice.”
The texts say the RCMP has been unable to deliver court documents and asks people to “please reschedule the delivery to avoid missing your court date by using the link below.”
Cpl. Mitch Thompson with the Commercial Crime Section is reminding the public that the RCMP will never ask for personal information by text or email.
“Scammers have created what appears to be a legitimate notification that brings you to a convincing website,” says Thompson.

Anyone who receives a suspicious text message is asked to:
- never reply to unknown phone numbers
- never provide any personal information, including name, date of birth, phone number, email, address or banking details
- never click on links sent to you from an unverified source
The force adds government agency websites should only be accessed through officials links.
