The RCMP is assisting an investigation after one person died in a fire at an apartment in Digby, N.S., said a Friday news release.
Police discovered the deceased person at the scene after the fire was extinguished.
RCMP, fire services and EHS responded to a report there was a fire at a home containing several apartments on Birch Street at approximately 8 a.m. Friday.
Multiple occupants evacuated the building while police assisted.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
Investigators remain on the scene gathering evidence.
