Nova Scotia RCMP arrest man following emergency alert

A man has been arrested after an emergency alert was issued in Nova Scotia late Friday night.

A man has been arrested after an emergency alert was issued in Nova Scotia late Friday night.

RCMP had put the alert out for the areas of Colchester County, Millbrook, Stewiacke, Indian Brook, and East Hants. Police said officers were searching for a man who may be armed with a firearm near Rines Creek.

According to police, the man had been seen running from the scene of a crash on Highway 215.

Police cancelled the emergency alert around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. At that time, the man had not yet been arrested but police said they did not believe there was a threat to public safety.

Approximately two hours later, RCMP said the man was arrested.

Police did not provide any further details, including whether charges are pending.
