More Nova Scotians removed from primary care waitlist after finding provider: health authority

Nova Scotia’s Need a Family Practice registry has gone down more than 8,000 people, according to the health authority’s most recent update.

As of March 3, Nova Scotia Health says the registry was sitting at 95,875 Nova Scotians waiting for a primary care provider.

That number is down 8,449 people since the health authority’s last update in February, when it sat at 104,324.

Nova Scotia Health says everyone removed from the list over the last month involved people who were attached to care or removed as a result of ongoing validation work that confirmed they have a provider.

The percentage of Nova Scotians currently on the Need a Family Practice Registry is 9.1 per cent.

Nova Scotia Health says its next update on the registry will be in early April.

Previous counts

The number of Nova Scotians on the Need a Family Practice Registry continues to decrease each month, according to the health authority.

As of Jan. 7, the health authority said 110,456 people were on the list – down 9,214 from the previous month.

In November 2024, Nova Scotia Health said there was 132,166 people on the list, while there was 145,114 people waiting for primary care as of Oct. 4, 2024.
