Man charged after robbery at Halifax Shopping Centre: Halifax police

A 38-year-old man is facing a number of charges after an alleged robbery at the Halifax Shopping Centre Saturday.

The Halifax Regional Police responded to a call from mall security around 5:25 p.m.

Security reported a man had threatened staff with a knife, before fleeing the scene with clothes and shoes, according to a news release from the force.

Officers located and arrested a suspect in the area five minutes later. The man is set to appear in provincial court in Halifax at a later date to face charges of:

  • robbery
  • possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000

Police say there were no reported physical injuries following the incident.
