Kids Help Phone had more than 116K interactions with N.S. youths in 2025

Millions of young people turn to Kids Help Phone for support every year.

Kids Help Phone, Canada’s national 24/7 mental health service for young people since 1989, said it had tens of thousands of interactions with Nova Scotia youths in 2025.

Warren Hardie, manager of media relations and influencer engagement with Kids Help Phone, said they supported more than 116,000 interactions with young people in Nova Scotia last year.

Thirty-eight per cent of texting interactions focused on anxiety and stress while 25 per cent centred on suicide. Twenty-per cent were about depression and 19 per cent were about isolation.

Across Canada, Kids Help Phone interacted with young people more than 3.7 million times in 2025. There were more than 273,000 text conversations, which represents a 30 per cent increase year over year.

The group also found there was a 43 per cent increase in suicide-related interactions among children aged 12 and younger compared to the previous year.

The Walk so Kids can Talk event, which raises money for Kids Help Phone, will be held at the Emera Oval in Haliax at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
