Halifax’s MacKay Bridge to close this weekend for toll plaza removal

Published:

The MacKay Bridge will be closed this weekend for the removal of the toll plaza.

The A. Murray MacKay Bridge that crosses the Halifax Harbour will be closed this weekend.

The bridge will be closed to vehicles from 7 p.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Monday.

Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) says the closure will allow for work to begin on the removal of the toll booth plaza.

“Drivers of commercial vehicles are reminded they are not permitted to use the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge,” reads a news release from the commission.

“Traffic congestion is expected, and extra travel time may be required to reach destinations.”

HHB says further work will be required on the MacKay.
