The shooting death of a 20-year-old man in Halifax three years ago remains under investigation.

Halifax Regional Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 1600 block of Hollis Street just before 4 a.m. on March 26, 2022.

Officers found Keezondre Kentrez Rayshawn Smith at the scene who had been shot.

Smith was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and his death was ruled a homicide.

Police said at the time they didn’t believe the shooting was a random incident.

Smith, a basketball player, was known to friends as ‘Dre’ or ‘Dreko,’ and was from North Preston, N.S.

Halifax Regional Police says its Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate his case.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve it.

“Even the smallest piece of information could progress the investigation,” reads a news release from police on the third anniversary of Smith’s death.

Police say anyone with information can call them at 902-490-5020.
