Saint John, N.B., man charged with possessing, accessing child sex abuse material

A 57-year-old man has been charged following an investigation into child sexual abuse and exploitation material in Saint John, N.B.

The New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit says it “began a proactive investigation on a media sharing platform” in May 2025.

That investigation revealed someone in the Saint John area was allegedly offering chid sexual abuse and exploitation material in May and June last year.

The RCMP and Saint John Police Force executed a search warrant at a home on Coldbrook Crescent in Saint John on Jan. 8, as part of the investigation.

Police say they seized several electronic devices and arrested a man at the scene. He was later released on conditions pending a future court appearance.

On Monday, David Walton was officially charged with the following offences:

• possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
• accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material
• making available child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

Walton is due to appear in Saint John provincial court on Aug. 4.
