New Brunswick opening more spaces for internationally-trained physicians

New Brunswick is opening more spaces in a program that allows internationally-trained physicians to become licensed to practice in the province.

The Practice Ready Assessment New Brunswick program, which is offered through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick, celebrated its second round of candidates at a ceremony in Moncton. A third group started in March and will complete the program this summer.

“I’m thrilled to welcome these nine new doctors who will make a meaningful difference for patients and families across our province,” said Premier Susan Holt in a news release. “By expanding the program from 10 to 14 spaces, we’re continuing to strengthen our health-care system and making it easier for people to get the care they need, when they need it.”

The program includes a 12-week clinical field assessment to evaluate candidates’ readiness and skills.
