N.B. man charged with impaired driving causing death after fatal collision

A Pigeon Hill, N.B., man has been charged with impaired operation of a vehicle causing death following a fatal collision between a pickup truck and an ATV in Lamèque on Saturday.

Officers attended the scene of the collision on Rue Principale around 1:52 a.m., according to an RCMP news release. They found the 34-year-old male driver of the ATV unresponsive and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck was uninjured, but he allegedly showed signs of impairment. Police arrested him and took him to an RCMP detachment to provide breath samples.

Yan Ferron, 34, appeared in court and was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and uttering threats.

He was later released on conditions and he is scheduled to return to court on March 31.
