Fredericton Transit is launching an expanded half-hour service for several high-demand routes next week.
The expansion aims to reduce wait times for passengers during midday hours, according to news release from the city.
The enhanced routes include:
- routes 12, 13, 14 and 15 (midday half-hour service across entire route)
- routes 16 and 17 (midday half-hour service on the south side)
- routes 116 and 216 (p.m. peak half-hour service starting one hour earlier
According to the city, the net annual cost for introducing the half-hour service was $624,000.
In 2023, Fredericton recorded 1,344,996 passenger trips. There was a 19 per cent increase in 2024, bringing the total to 1,600,406.
The new service will start on Monday.
