N.S. RCMP investigating suspicious fires on Hunters Mountain

The Victoria County District RCMP is asking the public for information about two suspicious fires that damaged neighbouring buildings on Hunters Mountain.

Police say officers, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a structure fire in the 1000 block of the Cabot Trail around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday.

“When first responders arrived on scene, an unoccupied structure was fully engulfed in flames. Signs of a fire were observed in a second similar structure located approximately 100 feet away; firefighters located and extinguished the fire,” said a Saturday news release from RCMP.

The first structure was destroyed and the second sustained significant damage, police said.

Investigators have also notified the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal for assistance.
