Vanessa Wright

Vanessa Wright is a video journalist with CTV Atlantic based out of Halifax, N.S. Born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area, Vanessa graduated with honours from Toronto Metropolitan University. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and completed a minor in Criminology. Vanessa was most recently a reporter with Global News, working in both Halifax, N.S., and Durham, Ont. Her live coverage of Nova Scotia's Hurricane Lee in 2023 won a Global News award for best breaking news and was a part of the show that won best broadcast. During her time in Durham, Vanessa was able to highlight stories from across the region, including in Ajax, Pickering, Oshawa, and Whitby, as well as Toronto and the GTA. She has reported on some of the country’s most pressing issues, including housing, health care, politics, crime, weather events, and community-based stories. Vanessa’s reporting experience also includes international coverage. She has covered the anniversary of Russia’s invasion on Ukraine, and the Princess of Wales Kate Middleton’s return to the public eye following her cancer diagnosis. Vanessa quickly discovered her passion for broadcast after routinely watching the NBA and other major sports with her family. In her daily life, Vanessa prioritizes faith, family and scouting the best food spots.
