Journalist, CTV National News

Scott Hurst is a CTV National News correspondent, based in Toronto. He was first hired by CTV more than 15 years ago, but left for several years to pursue opportunities in California. He rejoined CTV News Vancouver as a reporter in 2012. Scott has reported from the frontlines of wildfires across B.C. and California, interviewed local and national politicians in Canada and the United States, anchored a live U.S. election special in 2008, interviewed celebrities on the red carpet and gained exclusive access for a four-part series inside Pelican Bay State Penitentiary, one of California’s most notorious prisons. Scott has also reported from the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and Sochi, the Summer Olympics in London and the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. Scott’s live reporting from a chemical fire at the Vancouver Port in 2015 and the 2017 B.C. provincial election helped CTV News Vancouver be recognized for several regional and national awards. He was also nominated for a story that took at close look at the overdose crisis in Metro Vancouver. When he is not behind the anchor desk, you’ll most likely be able to find Scott and his wife Allison exploring the amazing wilderness B.C. has to offer. He has a passion for pretty much anything active including skiing, hiking, biking and running. He has completed more than a dozen half marathons, three marathons and one ultra-marathon. Scott graduated from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby with a degree in Communications.
