Winnipeg woman arrested for arson that caused $2M in damage

A Winnipeg woman is facing charges in connection to a destructive fire that caused more than $2 million in damage.

The Winnipeg Police Service has made an arrest after an arson resulted in more than $2 million in damage.

The incident took place on May 31 when a suspect damaged and stole from a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado parked in the 1-99 block of Fennell Street.

A short time later, a commercial business in the 1500 block of Seel Avenue caught fire. This resulted in about $1.75 million in damage to the building and $500,000 in damage to the building’s contents.

On Sunday, officers arrested a 30-year-old woman in the 600 block of Furby Street on an unrelated matter. Police investigated and determined her alleged involvement in the two May 31 incidents.

The suspect has been charged with arson causing damage to property, mischief under $5,000/obstruct in enjoyment and theft under $5,000. The charges have not been proven in court.

The suspect remains in custody.
