Wind chills to dip as low as -45 in parts of Manitoba: ECCC

Manitobans should bundle up and prepare for frigid temperatures on Tuesday as wind chills in parts of the province will drop as low as -45.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued extreme cold warnings in several communities, including Dauphin and Roblin. It warns that temperatures near -30 C combined with 10 to 15 km/h winds will cause wind chill values between -40 and -45.

Temperatures are expected to moderate in most communities by midday Tuesday.

ECCC is reminding Manitobans that extreme cold puts everyone at risk, but especially young kids, older adults, those with chronic illnesses, people who work outside and those without proper shelter.

Manitobans are urged to cover up, watch out for cold related symptoms, and keep pets safe.
