Three men charged following pair of armed robberies: Winnipeg police

Three men have been charged in connection with a pair of robberies at two North End businesses earlier in the week.

The first incident took place around 10 p.m. on Tuesday when three men went to a business in the 500 block of Redwood Avenue while armed with edged weapons. According to the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS), the suspects assaulted an employee and fled the scene after stealing some cash and about $150 in merchandise.

The robberies continued around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday when the suspects went to a retail business in the 1200 block of Main Street, while still armed with edged weapons. Police allege the suspects attacked an employee and left the business after taking $60 in cash, store merchandise, and personal property from one of the employees.

The employee who was assaulted sustained a minor injury to the upper body and declined medical attention.

Officers responded to the scene where they saw the suspects in a nearby parking lot. After a short chase, officers took two suspects into custody without incident.

Police also recovered stolen merchandise from one of the businesses in a yard in the 300 block of Charles Street.

The third suspect was arrested at a home in the 200 block of Polson Avenue around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

The WPS notes that while officers were effecting the arrests of three suspects, one of the accused threatened to kill one of the officers.

Three men have been charged in relation to the robberies. All three were in custody as of Thursday.
