Tornado warning over near Manitoba-Ontario border

A tornado warning that was issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) right on the other side of the Manitoba-Ontario border has ended.

ECCC issued the warning just before 1:40 p.m. for the areas of Kenora, Grassy Narrows, and Whitedog in Ontario.

“Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible,” the alert read.

Despite the warning being over, there is still an orange tornado watch in place for those three areas as well as Fort Frances, Emo, Rainy River, Sioux Narrows, Nestor Falls, and Morson.

“Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and may continue into this evening. The main threats are wind and hail, however, tornadoes are possible,” the watch reads.
