Nearly 50 domestic rabbits rescued from streets of Selkirk

Dozens of domestic rabbits were rescued in Selkirk, Man.

Nearly 50 domestic rabbits are safe after being rescued from the streets of Selkirk, Man.

Back in November, the City of Selkirk teamed up with Popcorn and Binkies Rescue Haven to save the pets who had been abandoned, released into the wild and were now producing offspring.

According to the city, the litters of two rabbits died, while other animals are battling severe health issues, including malnutrition, parasites, infections and overgrown teeth.

Now, the bunnies need your help. Popcorn and Binkies is looking for volunteers to help with trapping, fostering and socializing the rabbits. It is also accepting donations to help with the costs of food, medical care and surgeries.

All the rabbits will be spayed and neutered before being put up for adoption.

Trapping will continue in the spring.
