Dauphin teen with numerous outstanding warrants charged after crash involving stolen vehicle

Two people were hurt and a Dauphin teen was arrested after a collision involving a stolen vehicle.

Neepawa RCMP say they were called to the two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Road 104 North at Road 76 West, just south of Glenella, Man.

Officers arrived to find a truck in the south ditch and a minivan in the north ditch of Road 104 North. Fire and paramedic crews were already there.

Police say a minivan driven by a 24-year-old woman from Amaranth lost control. A truck following behind hit the minivan from behind, and both vehicles ended up in separate ditches.

Officers say there were two other passengers in the minivan.

As police talked to the driver of the truck, a 16-year-old male from Dauphin, they found he had outstanding warrants. He was arrested. There was one other person in the truck, Mounties say.

Officers also learned the truck was reported stolen from Elm Creek.

A 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both from Sandy Bay First Nation, and a 28-year-old woman from McCreary all sustained minor injuries. They were taken to hospital.

Everyone involved in the crash knew each other, police say.

The driver of the truck was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Police say he had three outstanding warrants from Winnipeg police and others from RCMP in Dauphin and Neepawa.

He was remanded into custody.

RCMP continue to investigate.
