Approaching system could bring 10 to 20 cm of snow to parts of Manitoba: ECCC

A system approaching from Montana that is expected to bring heavy snowfall to the Parklands has triggered a number of snowfall warnings in Manitoba.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said light, fluffy snow in the southwest is expected to rapidly accumulate through Wednesday before tapering off to light flurries Thursday afternoon in Manitoba.

The weather agency warns 10 to 20 cm is expected to fall.

It has issued a snowfall warning for parts of southwestern Manitoba, including Dauphin and Riding Mountain National Park.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult in some parts of the province, ECCC said. Surfaces like highways, roads and parking lots could become difficult to navigate.

The public is asked to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
