Wind warning in effect, heavy rain expected for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement and wind warning for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent, citing strong winds, heavy rain, and thunderstorms Wednesday night.

The storms are expected to start Wednesday afternoon or early in the evening, continuing overnight. There is a possibility of severe thunderstorms.

Wind is expected to reach 70 km/h to 90 km/h into Thursday morning. Power outages are possible.

Wednesday: Showers, heavy at times. Risk of a thunderstorm late in the afternoon, local amount five to 10 millimetres. High 24 C, humidex 26 C.

Wednesday night: Showers ending overnight, then cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers. A risk of thunderstorms in the evening and through the night. Local amount 30 to 40 millimetres. Wind gusting up to 80 km/h overnight, low 16 C.

Thursday: Cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers. Wind west 40 km/h gusting to 70 km/h. High 23 C, humidex 27 C.

Thursday night: Clear. Low 12 C.

Friday: A mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers. High 24 C.

Friday night: Clear. Low 12 C.
