Weather advisory in effect, heavy snowfall expected Saturday evening

Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for the region for Saturday night.

A low-pressure system is moving into the area, with heavy snowfall expected.

Snowfall accumulation between four to 10 centimetres, along with freezing rain or freezing drizzle leading to light ice build-up could make for some slippery conditions.

There will still remain the risk for some freezing drizzle at times through the overnight. The snow and freezing drizzle will taper off early Sunday morning.

Here’s a look at the Windsor-Essex region’s forecast

Saturday night: Periods of snow or freezing drizzle changing to periods of freezing drizzle near midnight and ending overnight then cloudy. Risk of freezing rain this evening. Snowfall amount 2 cm. Wind northeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light early this evening. Low minus 4. Wind chill near minus 8.

Sunday: Cloudy. Wind west 20 km/h becoming light late in the afternoon. High minus 1. Wind chill minus 10 in the morning and minus 5 in the afternoon.

Monday: Sunny. High minus 2.

Tuesday: Cloudy with 30 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 4.

Wednesday: Cloudy. High minus 4.

Thursday: Cloudy with 60 per cent chance of snow. High minus 3.

Friday: Cloudy. High minus 4.
