Tecumseh adopts 2025 budget, with a levy increase of 3.70%

The Town of Tecumseh has officially adopted its budget for 2025 – with a tax levy increase of 3.70 per cent.

The average resident will see an increase of $155 this year based on the average MPAC assessed property value in Tecumseh of $275,000. This includes $100 allotted to the Town of Tecumseh, and $55 in the county and educational levy.

Some larger projects were earmarked in the 2025 budget, highlights include the Lesperance Road trail, Lakewood Park South washrooms, pavilion and water feature, and upgrades for the fire department’s radio system.

“The 2025 Budget reflects Tecumseh’s commitment to delivering affordable, high-quality services while planning for future growth,” said Mayor Gary McNamara. “With strategic investments in critical infrastructure like trails, parks, and emergency services, we’re enhancing the quality of life for residents while balancing fiscal responsibility in the face of inflation. This budget is about meeting today’s needs and preparing for tomorrow’s opportunities.”

The hope is that the assigned budget will balance affordability with service quality in spite of increasing inflation.
