Spitfires take down Saginaw 7-3

The Windsor Spitfires took down the visiting Saginaw Spirit on Sunday with a final score of 7-3.

The first period of Sunday’s game was strong for both teams, as the Spits responded to the Spirit opening scoring with two goals. The Spirit responded with one, but Ilya Protas pocketed his second of the night, bringing the score to 3-2.

In the second period, Windsor made quick work securing the lead. Three more goals were scored by Tnias Mathurin, Jack Nesbitt, and Ryan Abraham. Saginaw responded with one as the teams headed into the third. To close off scoring, Abraham pocketed his second of the night in the final period.

Goalie Joey Costanzo stopped 22 of 25 shots in the game, securing his 30th win this season.

The Spits are back in action on Thursday when they visit Peterborough.
