Doctor with Windsor Regional Hospital suspended for three months

A Windsor doctor has been suspended for "inappropriate relations." CTV Windsor’s Travis Fortnum has the details.

A doctor at Windsor Regional Hospital has been suspended by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) for three months.

The CPSO discipline tribunal found Dr. Lenna Mary Morgan guilty of professional misconduct, leading to the suspension and a fine of $6,000.

Morgan reportedly violated two sections under the Medicine Act. One for allegedly engaging in an act or omission relevant to the practice of medicine which would reasonably be seen as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional, and the other for allegedly engaging in conduct unbecoming of a physician.

In a document from the CPSO, it said Morgan allegedly developed a romantic relationship with a patient’s close family member.

“You provided comprehensive medical care to patient A over an extended period, while also developing a close personal and subsequent romantic relationship with patient A’s close family member,” the document read.

“Your misconduct shows a serious lack of judgement and constitutes behaviour that we find to be disgraceful, dishonourable, or unprofessional.”

She must also finish remedial ethics training within six months at her own expense.

The suspension went into effect April 8.

“When a physician loses their license to practice by the CPSO, they can no longer exercise their privileges at a hospital and we comply with such CPSO decisions,” WRH said in a statement to CTV News.

“Once a CPSO suspension is lifted, we have an internal process to review recommendations and subsequent decisions prior to any reinstatement.”

The CPSO lists Morgan as a pediatric specialist. The tribunal said the reasons for the decision will be released “later.”
