Officials from the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit have confirmed a COVID-19 outbreak at a long-term care home in the community.
The affected area is identified as the 6th Floor East at Riverview Gardens, though the health unit has not disclosed the number of residents who have tested positive for the virus.
Under outbreak protocols, visitation to the 6th Floor East is restricted to approved essential caregivers and visitors, who must wear a mask upon entry.
For those visiting residents in isolation, full personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including an N95 mask, eye protection, a gown, and gloves.
While activities will proceed as usual for residents who are not unwell, those on the 6th Floor East are restricted from attending activities outside their unit as staff work to contain the spread of the virus.
