B&E thwarted by Windsor police, suspect arrested

Windsor police say they interrupted a break-and-enter in progress in the city’s east end.

Around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, a break-in was reported at a residence in the 1500 block of Rossini Boulevard.

Police say a man entered the property and proceeded to gather jewellery, money, and medical prescriptions.

When the occupant returned home, the suspect barricaded himself in a bedroom, according to police.

Officers arrived and tried to negotiate the suspect into surrendering, but to no avail. So, officers breached the bedroom door and arrested the suspect after a bit of a struggle.

One officer sustained minor injuries.

A 29-year-old man has been charged with break-and-enter and commit into dwelling-house, resisting a peace officer, failure to comply with release order.
