Surrey sexual assault suspect facing additional voyeurism, trespassing charges: police

A man charged with breaking into a Surrey woman’s home and sexually assaulting her last year has been charged with additional crimes, according to authorities.

An investigation into Jatinder Singh, 24, began last July.

“The victim reported that she was woken up by a man groping her in her residence. The victim screamed for help and the suspect fled,” the Surrey RCMP said in a news release at the time, appealing to the public for information in the case.

Singh was arrested and charged with one count of break-and-enter and one count of sexual assault in August of 2024.

On Wednesday, the Surrey Police Service announced that “investigators have gathered further evidence which has led to additional charges.” Singh has been charged with two counts of “trespass at night near dwelling house” and two counts of “secretly observing/recording nudity in a private place,” according to a news release.

The new charges stem from July 15 and July 17 of 2024 – before the alleged break-in and sexual assault, which occurred on July 20, a spokesperson for the SPS told CTV News.

Singh is currently out on bail, bound by conditions that include a curfew and electronic monitoring.
