Music, matches and more events to check out in Metro Vancouver this weekend

It’s the last weekend of June and the World Cup takeover of Vancouver continues, whether it’s enjoying the buzz of a Belgium vs. New Zealand match here at BC Place or cheering on Canada at a watch party as they face South Africa in the Round of 32 in Los Angeles.

Of course, there are plenty of non-soccer events to check out in the region this weekend as well.

Greek Day on Broadway

The 52^nd annual Greek Day festival will take over Broadway on Sunday, June 28.

Organizers promise the street festival will be “bigger and bolder” this year. Visitors can expect authentic Greek food, live music, traditional dance performances and family-friendly activities.

Festivities will take place between MacDonald and Blenheim streets from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Black Music Month Festival

The Black Music Month Vancouver Festival is celebrating its 9^th year with two days of performances at the City Centre Artists Lodge.

This year’s theme is “Black to Da Future” and will feature local artists and performers from across Canada and the U.S, representing across genres including Hip Hop, RnB, punk, reggae, funk and afrobeats.

The festival runs Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27.

Golden Spike Days Festival

The long-running festival that kicks off summer in Port Moody is back for its 49^th year this weekend.

The party at Rocky Point Park commemorates the completion of the Canadian Pacific Railway line in Port Moody, where the final spike was driven in.

Golden Spike Days promises live music, can can dancers, food trucks, and a spike driving competition.

The event runs all day Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28.

Grad Night at the PNE

The class of 2026 and their supporters are invited to a graduation party at Playland on Saturday, June 27.

In addition to the usual rides and food, the event promises live DJs, a red carpet, and “plenty of Instagram-worthy moments.”

Grad night runs from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Cypress Mountain Summer Kick-Off

Cypress officially opens for the season on Saturday, June 27, and the mountain is celebrating with a kick-off party.

Visitors are promised happy hour drinks, live music and a scavenger hunt.

For the rest of the summer, activities like the Eagle Coaster, axe throwing and hiking can be enjoyed on Cypress Mountain.

The event runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

For sports fans

The Vancouver Bandits basketball team takes on Winnipeg at the Langley Events Centre on Saturday, June 27.

The World Cup isn’t the only soccer match in the city this weekend. Vancouver Rise faces AFC Toronto at Swanguard Stadium on Sunday, June 28.
