Hamilton police search for suspects wanted in jewelry distraction thefts

Police are searching for suspects wanted in more than a dozen distraction thefts in Hamilton.

Since November 2024, Hamilton police said 14 incidents have been reported to them, where the suspects allegedly struck up a conversation with victims to get physically close to them.

“Often suspects try to sell or give jewelry which enables them to steal the victims own jewelry without notice,” the release issued Friday reads.

Police said the suspects are typically seen driving vehicles without licence plates.
